Title: USB Client error re: licensing
Post by Ron_Ottinger on Feb 23rd, 2010, 12:52pm
We have a license for USB Over Network for 8 devices.  We are using it in a development environment with Server 2008 and 2008 R2 as the host systems, and Windows XP and Windows 7 virtual machines.  We are using v4.3 for both server and client.  We have four developers, so the plan was to allow each developer to share out two USB devices.

Right now, only two developers have installed the software, and we are each only sharing out one device (no auto-sharing enabled).  However, we both get a license error on the client, which disconnects the VM from the server.  In order to clear the error, both the VM and the server have to be restarted (if we try to reconnect the client, the software shows that the server is unreachable).  When I restart and connect to the one device I'm sharing, it shows that 7 devices are available. I can run with that for a day or so, and it errors out all over again.

Ron,

So you're getting the 'server license limitation' error even though you've activated the Server part with a license?? Can you please do screenshots of both working and non-working set-up? Our email is support@fabulatech.com

Right now I can give you an improved version 4.4 which is going to be released soon to see if solves this issue - you'll have to remove all 4.3 and install 4.4 on both physical and virtual machines. In case the problem persists, we'll start debugging this with 4.4.

I have a clarification to my original message.  I don't have to shut-down and re-start the server host; I only need to stop and start the USB Over Network service.  However, until I do that, the client states that the server is unreachable, even after I either stop/start the service on the client, or if I completely shut-down and re-start the Windows 7 VM.

Yes, the license has been applied to the software (on the server side).

I'm sending the screenshots via email as requested.  Please let me know if you need additional information.
